“My Danish baby blog”, meeting with author

11224588_1626313984315479_7577733243064880378_oThis month is very active for me for new interesting meetings. And today I am delight to present you a story about Daniela, with who I met at DOKK-1. Daniela has her blog about parenthood in Denmark.

Daniela is from Colombia. In 2013 she came to Denmark to start her master’s in journalism. The very first day she met a Dane, who now is her husband (actually, he is half – Italian, half – Swedish, born in Denmark). He studied cryptography and security at university.

After they got married, they discovered happy news, that they would become parents.

And then Daniela started to have total new experience for herself – being a mother at foreign country.

To be happy at foreign country

11866490_10205634350232637_4913902510680936128_nOften when I meet immigrants, they start to complain about their present life at a foreign country, how different new culture is and how they miss their homes. It makes me sad to hear this, because I think if you made decision to live at a foreign country, you need to do everything possible to understand it and to be happy.

That‘s why meeting with such person as Michelle is a life present to me. As it appeared, it wasn’t the first time Michelle gave interview, she was telling her life story before.

Michelle is a positive and active person and she shows that an immigrant can find happiness in a new country.

About “Visualize You” company from Aarhus

As you could notice of my blog, I write a lot about people who live in Aarhus. And the reason is very simple – Aarhus is amazing city with fantastic people, who inspire me after each meeting.

Today’s story is about Rasmus and Kenny, students who recently started their own business.

10285791_887482751304041_4346483491594723823_oRasmus just got his bachelor’s in media studies, and Kenny is on his 4th semester at multimedia design.

They met last year at social club, Kenny worked there as a bartender, and Rasmus was a manager.

Meeting with film production assistant

1b53b98I think most of you went to some language classes. While my living in Denmark I decided to attend language school. My group is a very nice, but we have evening classes and all of the students have jobs, so we don’t have enough time to socialise and get each other better. About my classmates I know some basic information where they work, names, countries they came from. But we communicate on the breaks or while doing some language exercices, but anyway is not enough to really get know a person.

During one of such exercises I was sitting near one girl, who wanted to change groups to study Danish a bit faster. We talk a bit, and then she told me she got an internship in a film company.

Meeting with poet from Lithuania

17004646_l_90331aeeb9d948df00d5c90c6f39ba8cMy friend Dominik advised me to meet his good friend Agnius for an interview. Recently Agnius participated in Women’s Museum (Kvindemuseet) temporary exhibition. It took part in August – October and the topic was “A world of stories”. Young people from different countries, currently living in Aarhus, presented their life stories in pictures, films and objects.

Agnius is 23 years old, he came from Lithuania. I met him last year on couchsurfing meeting, and I have to say he is not a person whom you like from the first sight.  Agnius is a real artist, he lives in his own world, full of images and inspiration. He likes to meet new people and helps them by hosting via couchsurfing.

And he is a talented person. First he told me about his exhibition. It took several weeks to prepare it, every young person had to organize his own place, and Agnius enjoyed this process. It was totally new experience.

Old struggles, new ideas of Danish journalism professor

07be22f562On a rainy day in Aarhus I met a sunny person for an interview. And it made my day. Line Hassall Thomsen is just an incredible person, she was extremely open and friendly during all our meeting.

I met Line just one week after her successful PhD defense. The topic was “New Struggles, Old ideas, the everyday struggle towards being a “Good journalist” inside public service TV newsrooms in the UK and Denmark” (if you understand Danish here is the link of her interview).
