16939191_263130510781682_6943854093855623524_nPeople, who do more for others, than they should, always fascinated me. Today I want to present you an interview with Olha, Ukrainian, who started the charity organisation for ill kids.

  • Please tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Olha. I am just a common person. I live in Denmark with my husband and two children, working. The only I can say that I get great satisfaction from helping people, especially kids.

  • How long are you in Denmark?

I came to Denmark about 12 years ago to work on a farm, where I spent 5 years. At that time I met my future husband. Afterwards we moved to the city, I got education, married and started the life as we have it now.

Volunteer at an animal shelter

10855015_509129969225942_6312327051627566417_oToday I would like to introduce you Zulfiya, volunteer from an animal schelter.

Zulfiya is 29, she was born in Moscow, graduated an institute of tourism and hospitality, was working at hotels and tourist companies before last year she got married and moved to Aarhus, Denmark.

Living in a new country was difficult in the beginning for Zulfiya, because of new rules, new language, having only husband and no other relatives. But slowly she got new friends and became more familiar to Danish culture.

Zulfiya is interested in photography, astropsychology, jewelry design from natural stones.

But the main activity in her life is a volunteering job.

Lecture about witch children in Nigeria

Latest-About-Anja-Ringgren-Loven-Husband-David-Emmanuel-Uwem-4Today I attended a very interested lecture in Aarhus.

It was hold by Anja Ringgren Loven.

Anja became international known because of her charity organisations ‘Din Nød hjælp‘ and ‘Hope for children of Africa‘.

I saw a documentary about her and read several articles, so when I heard about an opportunity to listen her speech, I was very exited.

Anja was talking about her life story, and I want to share it with you, my readers.

Anja was born in Denmark, her mother was a nurse, and she was brought up with the idea to help others (‘Life is long, so we have to take care of each other’ – often said her mother). Also she remembers, that when she and her sister didn’t want to eat dinner, the mother told, that children in Africa are starving, so they shouldn’t waste food. So the interest to Africa came from childhood.

Game night in Aarhus, creativity meeting and guide at Aarhus institute

Tal R

In my struggles with Danish language recently I didn‘t write any posts, but today is the day! I really missed writing for my blog.

Yesterday I had great and interesting day in Aarhus and I am looking forward to share the story with you, my dear readers.

My day started at Hasle culture house. In the area there live a lot of pensioners and people with small incomes, so at library they opened culture house. They have different initiatives, like creative shop, where one can bring their hand – made and sell it (there are pieces from Somalia, Romania, most are from Denmark). Since I like hand made, visiting this shop gives me inspiration (one woman does painting on stones, another makes braceletes from tooth brushes). Also at the culture house they have lessons for pregnant women, glass making, bord tennis and cafe with lunches and cakes (run by volunteers, so the prices are very small).

The event I attended was creative meetings, mostly pensioners come there, so for me it was great opportunity to practise my Danish. I really like pensioners here in Denmark, they have very social life and lots of hobbies. One can argue that they have good pensions so they can afford it. Well, it can be true, but also I think it is in the culture. People here do a lot of volunteer works, and no matter how ill they can be in an old age, they go to different social events.
